The Sony PXW-FS7 XDCAM is a high-mobility professional camera featuring a 4K Super 35mm Exmor CMOS sensor, designed for ergonomic one-man operation. The system supports internal 4K recording up to 60p and Full HD continuous Super Slow Motion at frame rates up to 180 fps on XQD media. It offers a 14-stop dynamic range and a high sensitivity of ISO 2000. Recording formats include 10-bit 4:2:2 XAVC and broadcast-standard MPEG-2 HD 422. The α Mount system provides extensive lens compatibility with native E-mount glass and A-mount lenses via the LA-EA4 adaptor.

Expanded functionality is available through the optional XDCA-FS7 Extension Unit, enabling multi-camera synchronization and ProRes 422 encoding. In conjunction with the HXR-IFR5 interface and AXS-R5 recorder, the system supports 4K/2K RAW capture with high-speed 2K recording up to 240 fps. Firmware version 4.30 further optimizes ISO sensitivity within the CineEI mode and enhances overall system stability. The modular design includes an adjustable arm and ergonomic grip to facilitate flexible handling in diverse production environments.
